ITBS Testing FAQstesting

Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS)

APEX will be offering the complete IOWA test

  • Dates TBD

You must sign up IN ADVANCE to have your child test. Students in all grades 3-8 may test and there is a $10 fee for testing ($20 after December 1). Students may only test in the grade level that they are registered in at APEX.

  1. What about classes those days?  Students only need to attend if they are testing. All regular classes for students will be cancelled.
  2. Who gets the test results? One copy is kept in your child’s file at APEX and one is given to you. If you send your letter of intent to a different district than SVVSD, you can send scores to that school district.
  3. Can I have other siblings tested that are not enrolled? Yes, students not enrolled in APEX may take the test for a $25 fee.
  4. Where can I get materials to help my child prepare? We recommend the “Scoring High” series available from www.rainbowresource.com. Make sure you get the IOWA test book. We recommend you also order the teacher’s edition if you want the answer key. There are also some resources you can find by searching “ITBS” online.
  5.  Why is there a fee?  The fee covers the cost of scoring the test. Cash or check made payable to SVVSD.

When will you get your results?

Test results typically take 4-6 weeks to receive and will be placed in your family file once they are available (or mailed to you if you are not an APEX student currently). You can then submit your scores to the district that you send your letter of intent to.

What do the results mean?
